Wasn't it supposed to be sunny today? Yes it was! The cooler, less humid air that is moving this way at the leading edge of a high pressure system is a bit too cool, and not quite dry enough, to counteract the low-level moisture left over from the recent rains. That surface moisture is evaporating and then fairly quickly condensing in the atmosphere to cover the sky in gray gunky stratus clouds. There may be enough churning to produce a few sprinkles or even a snow flurry. The gray skies will keep the temperature down to the lower 40s this afternoon. [ more ? ]
